Phonak / Unitron Sports Locks
Phonak / Unitron RIC aid wearers: If you notice your hearing aid(s) becoming less effective / tinny / harsh etc, assuming you have already CHECKED YOU HAVE A NEW BATTERY INSERTED, CHANGED THE WAX GUARD and PINCHED THE DOME WITH A WET WIPE, …It may be that the SPORTS LOCK HAS BECOME DISLODGED:
This is how the SPORTS LOCK should look Please note the lock ‘loop’ is right at the end of the receiver / metal block Sports Lock SPORTS LOCK WRONGLY POSITIONED! Over time the lock may be dislodged with clumsy removing of the dome or poor aid insertion technique, or just from wear and tear (it will loosen, discolour and slip down over time) To Fix, 1. Remove the dome (with thumb nail placed firmly on its underside (the trunk of the dome) - don’t grab the ‘spokes’ as the dome will rip or stretch) 2. Lever off the sports lock to replace it, Or temporarily, slide it back up to the top of the receiver block, ie furthest away from the dome Or, call your Hearing Healthcare Professional 3. Slide on a new sports lock (the loop end is square) 4. The sports lock should be aiming away from the ear - as shown in the picture 5. The lock should be slid on so as to be pointing away / towards your nose Finally, curve the lock in your fingers to coax it in the right direction Job Done!
